There are so many hoof care products on the market that deciding which ones are right for your horse can be confusing. Every product claims to be "THE one," yet you must make a decision. I'm Dave Birdsall, an AFA Certified Journeyman Farrier. I'm asking you to base your decision on the fact that I've been shoeing horses for over 45 years, and have used my decades of experience to formulate hoof care products that don't make fancy claims. They really work. I wouldn't put my name on a product unless I'm absolutely sure you'll be satisfied with the results. The products I'm offering have been extensively tested and reformulated over a period of years, until they performed perfectly. Now I'd like to share them with you.
Consistency is the key to healthy hooves. Too much moisture can certainly destroy good hooves, and not enough moisture can increase the shock and stinging to the horse's feet.
When we speak of consistency, we have to explain what happens when a horse is exposed to too much moisture. If the horse is turned out all night, the hoof goes from being dry to being very wet from the dew. Dew is hazardous to the healthy hoof. On the other hand, when a horse is in a stall on shavings or turned out on dry ground, these conditions are hydrophilic surfaces which draw moisture from the feet.
Through our testing, we believe the perfect moisture content of the hoof should be approximately 26%. Our products were designed to help maintain a consistency close to this percentage. Visit our Products page for more details on our selection of products and how they can benefit you and your horse.
A little bit about us...
"We cannot keep Birdsall's Farrier Barrier on our shelves. All the farriers are recommending it to their customers. That alone should speak for itself."
